THE CHALLENGE
The Clinical Centre Rosenheim is a highly specialised hospital with 12 units and 640 beds. The medical and care wards are cross-linked and have applied a “paperless office” policy, which will also be deployed at the radiology department in the near future. The digital patient record is available anywhere at any time by means of the hospital-information-system. By using of digital systems, however, security and availability of data are crucial.
Furthermore, new guidelines demand faster system recovery in the case of an emergency. In the event of a recovery of the system, the data loss should amount to 4 hours at the most; the system availability should be operational after a maximum of 30 minutes.
THE SOLUTION
ACP implemented a Rescudo Emergency Server. If a server fails in operation, the Rescudo system becomes active within minutes and replaces the faulty server. Additionally ACP installed the Rescudo Software under VMware ESX and thereby achieved a virtualisation of the systems at the Clinical Centre Rosenheim. The total storage of the system amounts to 4.2 terabyte.
THE ADVANTAGES
- A highly available solution at low cost with Rescudo technology
- Server virtualisation, with additional possibilities for scaling and migration
CONCLUSION
In the event of a total system failure of the servers, the one-to-one safeguarding enables a recovery within 10 minutes. The Rescudo solution costs about 75% less than a comparable conventional cluster solution.
